My Experience in Digging the World We Want

By Rubina Shrestha

In May of 2013, Restless Development, a youth-led INGO announced a Training of Trainers (ToT) programme on Post-2015 Development Agenda for youth affiliated with different organisations. On behalf of Yuwalaya, I got an opportunity to participate in that ToT, where I not only learnt about the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and post-2015 agenda but also got an opportunity to meet youth from different areas having diverse expertise.

Our Voice in Post-2015 Development Agenda

By Sanjog Thakuri
While our neighbour country India is extensively engaged in its election; globally many children, adolescents and youths are also busy in promoting importance of votes. But, this vote the youth are advocating for is not for any political parties. It, however, has a political impact globally from developed countries to developing ones.

When the world stepped into the new millennium, the whole world came together and decided to set new goals since the world had new challenges and the new generation was in move. After massive discussions, consultations, meetings, interactions and, of course, some debates finally the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were drafted. These days we all know about the MDGs not only because of its importance, also because it is about to expire and again the world is looking forward to post-2015 development agendas. That’s why, through every possible platform, all the organisations, civil societies and UN agencies are discussing and consulting with people to know their issues, strategies and ideas for after 2015. Post-2015 is an issue of all people, organisations, development partners and UN agencies.

'Sex Work is WORK'

By Sabin Singh for Yuwalaya
Recently, I got a media scholarship to attend the 11th International Congress on AIDS in Asia Pacific held in Bangkok, Thailand from 18-23 November 2013. There I met lots of the people and organisations working in the area of HIV and AIDS; such as PLHIV, Men Having Sex with Men, LGBTIQ, Drug users, experts, scientist and global leaders from the Asia Pacific and other corners of the world. They all had different stories to share that made us smile and cry. Among them, Raina was the one who really touched my heart. She had a very painful past which she overcame and her story is one of the best examples of how to overcome bad experiences, which I think is truly inspirational.

A Day for Youths: IYD 2013

By Chetana Tulachan for Yuwalaya

Hello Everyone!! We have been busy organising few events while also participating in trainings and programmes. Right at this moment, we can proudly say that we are enhancing ourselves, exploring our knowledge and making lots of plans for the days to come. Anyway, we wanted to write to you about one of our major events that took place in August. If you are going way back to August to think what happened then, it was International Youth Day on August 12. This year the IYD was celebrated globally with the theme "Youth Migration: Moving Development Forward".

On that event's note, our team members participated in rally, workshops, meetings and seminars that were organised by different governmental and nongovernmental organisations. But what we want to share with you is our main event "Youth Express" that we were quite lucky to perform at Yuwak Yuwati Mela, jointly organised by the Ministry of Youth and Sports, UN agencies and other NGOs of Nepal.
