Many organizations celebrated the
26th International Children's Day all around the world on 20th
November, 2015. Yuwalaya in coordination with the District Child Club Network (Lalitpur),
Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City and other local stakeholders organized a program
at Mangalbazaar, Patan.
The program started informally with
performances of children. They presented dances, songs and dramas.
Soon, the formal program started with
chairing of the chief guests, singing national anthem and a welcome speech by
Abhisan Rai, President of the District Child Club Network. The Superintended of
Police Pitambar Adikari, Chief Women Development Officer Saradha Bhujel, Local
Development Officer Pashupati Pokhrel, District Education Officer Dilnath Puri
and President of Municipal Child Club Network Sujan Koirala were present in the
program as special guests.
In the program, earthquake affected
children were given Rs 5,000 as a relief support to help them meet their basic
needs like food, education and nutrition. Yuwalaya also handed over bags and
stationery materials to the District Administrative Office of Lalitpur to be
distributed to 25 children affected by earthquake in Southern Lalitpur. The bags
and stationery were supported by Youths of Siliguri through their 'Pocket Money
Campaign'.
The Chief District Officer Yadav
Prasad Koirala gave a short speech on child rights and duties of children.
Following that, differently abled children from the CBR Patan performed a
dance. There were many other performances and speeches by the children. A
special drama related to bullying was performed by Kathmandu Valley Child Club
Network. Also, the winners of the
dawning competition held on the occasion of 26th UNCRC Day were
awarded with prizes. Finally the program ended with Vote of Thanks from the
Chairperson.
