Yuwalaya on June 2 and 3 organised a capacity building training for girls of Kavre district on the occasion of the International Girls in ICT Day.
The Day is celebrated every year on
the fourth Thursday of April. This year, it was marked with the theme "Expand Horizons, Change Attitudes".
Total 33 young women from the district had participated in the event supported by the Nepal Telecommunications Authority and the Creative Society Nepal.
The event was organised in the district headquarters Dhulikhel.
On the first day, the girls were trained on career
opportunities in the ICT sector. Nisha
Shahi and Aachal Thapa, two IT graduate women, had facilitated the session. They also
encouraged the participants to increase their interests in the ICT sector. The
career orientation was followed by speech competition on how ICT is
contributing to various other sectors.
On the second day, the girls were trained on blog writing. They learned the process and importance of blogging. Yuwalaya Executive Member, journalist and blogger Diwakar Pyakurel had facilitated the session.
After the completion of this training, the closing ceremony
was held in which the participants were awarded with the certificates. Also,
the winners of the Day-I competition were declared and
awarded with prizes.
