Yuwalaya meets child club graduates to discuss 25 years of child rights

On this Friday, November 28, Yuwalaya organised an interaction with child club graduates on the occasion of completion of 25 years of adoption of the UN Convention on Rights of the Child (UNCRC).
As many as 30 child club graduate youths had recollected their child club experiences in relation to issues of child rights.
They also shared their achievements gained from participating at child clubs and challenges they faced for being there. The youth participants were very happy to get an opportunity to share their experiences and feelings with each other.
The participants shared that child clubs helped them improve various skills including like skills, communication, facilitation, networking and public speaking. Despite remembering few problems including lack of family support and lack of time for family, they pointed out that child clubs help children grow better.
They also suggested organisations working for and with child clubs to give priority to child club graduates while recruiting staff for child clubs and relevant projects.
During a live discussion, the youths innovated an idea that ex-child club members can work for child rights in their society using the government budget allocated for child rights through local governments.
Yuwalaya had organised the function to know what the child club graduates feel about achievements and challenges of their span at child clubs. Developing some platform to work together was also aimed at.
The discussion ended with participants requesting child right organisations to keep their graduates in contact.
Yuwalaya Secretary Rubina Shrestha had moderated the discussion.
