On the
occasion of Menstrual Hygiene Day, youth-led organization Yuwalaya in
coordination with youth radio talk show 'Saathi Sanga Manka Kura' organized the
MENstruation talk with MEN, on Saturday, May 21.
Total 20
young men aged 15-24 participated in the interaction where they discussed
various aspects of menstruation.
During the
interaction, participants discussed taboos and stigmas related to menstruation
and how such harmful traditions are hindering the girls and women of Nepal to
grow. They also discussed what they can do as men to end menstruation-related
harmful myths and taboos.
The
Menstrual Hygiene Day is being celebrated with the theme "Menstruation
Matters: to Everyone, Everywhere" this year.
To end taboos and stigmatization associated with menstruation and its harmful effects, the Menstrual Hygiene Day is celebrated on May 28 every year, for last three years.
